Meaning: the goal behind an action
The pattern ……,为的是…… links an action with the purpose behind it. The first part says what someone does, arranges, or chooses. 为的是 introduces the goal that motivates that action. In English, the relation is often expressed with “in order to,” “so as to,” or “the aim is to.” The goal may be achieved later, but the sentence itself presents it as an intention or aim, not proof that it succeeded. This point belongs to the HSK 5 outline under purpose clauses; the outline establishes scope and level only. (hsk-5-g067)
