有何X: Formal Questions with “What”
有何X is a formal way to ask what impact, difference, suggestion, or concern there is. The question may seek information or challenge a claim; context determines its force. It is not a general replacement for 有多少.

这项政策有何实际影响?

The fixed frame and its meaning
The outline lists 有何X as a fixed format at HSK 7–9. Here 何 is close to 什么: 有何影响 asks “what impact?”, while 有何建议 asks “what suggestions?”. Translate the whole question naturally. This does not license replacing 有多少 with 有何 to ask any quantity; “how much money?” is not 有何钱.
- X may be a noun such as 影响、区别、益处 or 建议, or an evaluative expression such as 不妥 in 有何不妥. 不妥 need not be classified as a lexical noun to fit this question.
- The focus usually follows 有何 directly. Add context before the frame when needed, for example a topic, person, or situation.
- The frame does not itself say whether the answer is known, positive, negative, or expected; context and tone supply that information.
Questions in context
这项政策有何实际影响?
A direct information question about the policy's effects.
这两种解释有何区别?
A neutral question comparing two explanations.
此事尚未查明,你现在指责他有何益处?
Correct. The context makes the question a challenge to the usefulness of blaming him.
您对这项安排有何建议?
A polite question in a formal register.
这种做法有何不妥?
Asks what, if anything, is unsuitable about the approach.
The examples request information, invite suggestions, or challenge a claim. In the third, the unclear facts make the question skeptical about the benefit of blaming someone. 有何 alone does not make every question rhetorical; the topic, surrounding statements, and delivery matter.
Register, restrictions, and a useful contrast
有何 is more formal and written in tone than the everyday question word 什么. It fits reports, interviews, public discussion, formal correspondence, and considered speech. A speaker can use it in conversation, but it may sound deliberate or elevated. For a casual exchange, 这两种解释有什么区别? is more conversational than the example using 有何区别. Both ask about a difference; the choice reflects register, not a difference in grammatical correctness.
- Choose X to match the information sought: 影响 asks about an effect, 区别 about a difference, 建议 about advice, and 益处 about a benefit.
- Use a full context when the intended target could be unclear. 有何 is concise, so the surrounding sentence often has to identify the topic.
- Do not treat 有何 as a free substitute for every 什么 question. Its formal tone and the noun or evaluative focus that follows make some everyday questions sound unnatural or overly ceremonious.
Question form and intended response
A common shape is topic + 有何 + focus: 这项政策有何实际影响? The question word 何 already asks for information, so a final 吗 is normally unnecessary. Keep the question focus after 有何; do not insert an unrelated subject between them.
A reply to 您有何建议? should normally offer a suggestion. A reply to 指责他有何益处? may instead need to address the speaker’s challenge that blaming is unhelpful. 不妥 is also context-sensitive: 有何不妥? can sincerely ask what is wrong or challenge an objection. Neither reading is automatic.
